Hi. Was just wondering if anyone knows anything about adopting a baby in Australia? Are there still orphanages? How does it work? How long is the process? Any advice/information would be appreciated. TIA

No orphanages in Australia. Children go to foster care.
There are strict guidelines on who can adopt. Application process etc. in Australia the focus is on keeping children with there genetic relatives where possible so although children are available to adopt it's quite small numbers.
And it's not like what you see on US movies and TV shows where you can just find a single mum who is pregnant and choose each other.
Best place for you to start is google adoption and your state. As each state has its own organisation. In South Australia your contact would be FamiliesSA.
Adopting in Australia is extremely difficult. Perhaps look into fostering first?
