12 week old day sleeps

12 week old day sleeps

Hello, need a little help/advice getting my 12 week old to sleep longer the one sleep cycle during the day? She goes to sleep at night no worries and doesn't wake till her morning feed (between 2-4am) so lucky in that sense but she won't sleep past on cycle (unless she sleeps on me) during the day. She only started this a few weeks ago, so thinking it could be a phase? TIA.

She could be going through a wonder week (Google them, heaps of information available), or she could just be a cat napper like my son was. I just planned each nap through the day around what I had to do, so first sleep I would do dishes and put a load of washing on, second sleep I would have lunch and rest, third sleep I would hang a load of washing out, and if I was lucky enough to get a fourth nap out of him for the day (was not often), I'd have a lay down and try and sleep for 30 mins. The only other thing is to let her sleep on you during the day. Also try not to overstimulate her right before her nap. So even if you take her to where she sleeps 10 mins before she usually goes down and just softly talk/sing and keep noise to a minimum, it might relax her just that bit more to get her into a deeper sleep. They do grow out of it, my son did it from about 10 weeks right up until the day after he turned 6 months and then all of a sudden he slept for up to 90 mins each time. Just remember they are changing and adapting their routines to suit their needs and growth spurts, so best to just go with the flow and let her lead while she's still so young. Most babies will sort themselves out between 6-12 months of age.
