How to become a single mum

I will be separating from my husband soon and would like to get a rental on my own but I feel so clueless about how to become a single mum?? Where to begin?? What are the chances of even getting a rental especially with no rental history? Looking for any guidance or advice to help make this process easier and a little less daunting. Thanks :)

Doesn't matter about rental history but you will need someone to vouch for you. So think about friends and family who would know if you pay your bills on time and would think you are responsible and keep your house near and tidy. The real estate agent will just give them a call. Make sure you apply for rentals that cost less than 1/3 of your income.
A lot will depend on what the rental market is like where you live. So ask locals. If the rental market has a low vacancy rate it will take longer as there will be a lot of people applying for the same places. If there is a high vacancy rate then it's obviously a lot easier.
Before going to an open inspection have the application printed and filled out so you can hand it in on the day, if you think the place is suitable. Some agencies have weird ways to choose a Tennent. One place I applied for was the first person to have deposit in, application in to the office got first choice. I really wanted the place, it was ideal so because I'd done my homework I got it over 50 other applicants. So doing your homework really pays off.
