Has anyone applied for child support for an adult child? My daughter has autism and is 20. At this stage I'm not working due to her care needs. Her Dad (my ex) is refusing to help us to pay for a small operation that she needs and now that she is over 18 he doesn't give us any financial help at all. She is on the disability pension but it's only a small amount. So I was just wondering if it's worth chasing him through the courts for child support? He did pay it when she was under 18.

It doesn't go through the courts you apply through the child support agency.
I didn't apply (similar circumstances) but was told I'd more than likely receive child support until my son turned 21 and his adult pension kicked in. The adult pension is 867.00 a fortnight. Not going to be rich but made a big difference.
I just couldn't do the stress at the time and someone else helped us out financially.
