Work tales

Can I get some stories of other mums who have left the workforce for a couple of years and made a successful comeback in another job/career? I'm married and hubby's income is pretty decent, so I'm about to leave a good career to care for my son for the next 2 yrs until he starts school. This is important to me, but I'm very sad/nervous about not working, as I've never been out of work for about 25 years! Hit me with your anecdotes and advice :)

I left for a year on maternity leave went back for a year, have had a year off again just being a mum. Now our little man is 3.5 yrs and I have decided not to go back to my original career (clinical nurse) and be a daycare mum. I am only in the beginning stages of setting up for this though. I have done a lot of soul searching over the last few years and now I am at the stage where I don't want to be doing a job I don't necessarily have a passion for anymore just for 'career status' or money. I want to do what's important for me and my family and enjoy my life. It feels good to put yourself and your family truly first and do what makes you happy not what is expected of you. You will be surprised how supported you'll be. Good luck
