My partner and I have recently moved in with his dad and younger (16) year old sister, whilst renovations are being done on our house.
I am three months pregnant, just got laid off and now to top it all off my SIL accused me of stealing from her. Nothing really big. Just make up and a few pieces of jewellery.
I have been honest that I was looking for something in the study where some boxes of ours are being kept and knocked a bag of stuff over, and it got mixed up with our stuff. This is apparently the jewellery. I offered to let her go through our boxes, our room and see if there is anything in there of hers. I know there isn't. I have never been in her room or touched her make up.
I don't know how to handle this. I have never been accused of theft in my life. My partner said she's after attention because her parents are divorcing but I honestly thought we were friends. Any advice is welcome.

She's 16, and she feels like you are intruding on her life. 16 year olds are very territorial and moody!! They kind of want there own space and to live without anyone else but aren't ready to yet.
If you didn't take her stuff she will probably find it somewhere and be really embarrassed and not fess up to finding it.
It will probably blow over.
I was an arsehole at 16. Truly. Take it all with a grain of salt. Talk to her. Be friendly regardless. She'll grow up one day.
She's 16 nobody cares about her 'she took my Stuff' drama. Don't stress about it
