36 weeks going on 37 weeks pregnant and have had diarrhoea for 2 going on 3 days straight now? Is this normal? should I be advising my midwife and ringing them? Have been having back pain not constant though and sharp pains in stomach but nothing constant.

Always talk to a medical professional. Never trust a bunch of strangers on a website for medical advice. It's worth the phone call
But you've basically described labour pains, so don't delay!!!
It could be early signs of labour, it could be a tummy bug
Whatever the cause, diarrhoea can irritate your uterus bringing on contractions and labour
I would def check in with your hospital or midwife, if it's a bug, you may need to be rehydrated, if it's labour, you're a little early so they'll want to monitor you and bubs
(I've had babies at 36 and 37 weeks and they were perfectly healthy, needed no special care or intervention, but it's always best to play safe)
I personally would just keep hydrated (get some hydrolite or such) & eat a bland diet as for me, diarhea tends to be the start of labour (I actually will vomit too - it's like my body needs to be completly empty to birth lol) & play it by ear, but if it goes on a couple days longer I would be in touch with your midwives. Best of luck!
