Getting pregnant with multiples

For those with multiples (twins, triplets etc) aside from IVF, did you do anything/take anything/eat anything that helped boost your chances??

**EDIT

I realise there is an increase in risks associated with multiples.

**Full disclosure

Im 27 and have many medical problems making it hard for me to get pregnant. Im having a hysterectomy at 30. Hubby and I want a big family so we want to have as many kids as we safely can in the next 3 years!

Just remember that carrying any more than 1 baby brings with it alot more risks!

But it's mostly a genetics thing (on the mums side) or random luck. Though I have read that in the country that produces the most twins, the woman eat alot of yams lol

The human body isn't designed to carry multiples. Be very careful what you wish for. Increased chances of preterm/prem babies, increase chance of disabilities, increase chance of death in utero.
There are very good reasons why IVF doctors go to a lot of trouble to decrease the chances of multiple births.
I'm sorry you are facing these challenges but trying for multiples is not a solution even if you could deliberately have multiples.

My friend is carrying twins, she has been told one is too small and probably won't survive from the start, she's on bed rest since 28 weeks and will probably have a cesarean soon. I can't imagine her wanting to go through this again (let alone being mentally ready to add more babied on top) any time soon ever. Whereas many women cope well with a second and third pregnancy in a row following a healthy single baby born naturally.
Agree be careful what you wish for.
Also I don't think there is anything you can 'do' to increase your chances anyway so good luck with whatever you get! X

Yep, the point was that it's higher risk and if youre confined to a three year period that's a big risk to take. But I guess it's moot anyway seeing as we don't get to choose. you want what you want I can understand that, I hope you get it, all the best, busy time ahead!!

If you want to have as many as you safely can and understand the increased risk with multiples, wouldn't it be a safer option to just have one?
Aside from that - I had twins. They're identical. Identical twins are just luck. Non identitical are hereditary.
Interestingly. One of my twins has also become a father of identical twins. What are the chances!
You say you're a twin. Identical or non identical? Your chances of having multiples is increased if you're non identical.
Unfortunately there is no known way to increase the chance of multiple births naturally. No magic food or tablet. It's just pot luck.
Best of luck I hope it works out for you.

I have a twin brother. My aunt has identical girls and B/G twins, my grandmother is an identical twin, my other grandmother has a non-identical twin and my grandfather has a non-identical twin. Also my cousin is currently pregnant with triplets. So a very strong family history lol
