Hello,
This may be a bit random so please stick with me. I need opinions :)
Whilst wondering through Kmart the other day, I seen all of the school supplies and uniforms. I began wondering how many children would be going to school without all the things they need. Whilst alot of the things were cheap (such as $2 polo tops) the thought that some families just actually may not be able to spare enough each week to get everything ready, really rocked me. Ive thought constantly about it since and wondered what I could do to help. Here is where I need your input :) I had the idea to maybe put together "bundles" of school supplies which would contain stationary, drink bottle/lunch box and a few items for a uniform. I would either give these to a local charity such as salvos or perhaps approach the local school and see if they could hand them out to anyone who may need them. What does everyone think? Good/bad idea? Anything else I could include? I know there is HEAPS of families in my area that could do with a hand.
Thanks everyone :)

Good idea, team up with specific schools so you can get the uniform/materials right. Start with one school, talk to principal, they will know how many students that would genuinely need the service. Of course principles at this time of year would be extremely busy so you might be aiming for a 2017 roll out
Great idea, take them to schools. Or maybe even just raising money to buy uniforms straight from the school and then the money goes straight back into the school which helps them with their own funding.
I think The Smith Family does this already? Not sure if that's the one. There is an organisation though that does it.
It's The Smith Family that does it in our area.
What a lovely, generous idea. Glad to hear there are people out there like you
It's an absolutely fantastic idea! You can contact the social worker/chaplain/guidance officer/other support workers in the school as they generally have a good idea of who needs a hand up in life. Also going to charities is great too. Good teachers can also spot those who are struggling, but when a school is working well as a team, the teacher will generally refer the child to student services for help. My hat goes off to you, not many people outside of the system think of those struggling within.
