Planned pregnancy - Partner freaking out! Please help!

Please Help!

I have been with my partner for 7 years. I have a child from a previous relationship which he has raised. Things have been great between us and we have so many plans for the future. He has been begging me for the last few months about trying for a baby, and its finally happened. I am 5 weeks pregnant.. But here is the problem. When I told him he seemed happy, but he has now opened up and told me he's not excited about it, and he's freaking out and feeling stressed. I have asked him if this is what he wants and he says 'I don't know'. He says he feels like there is something wrong with him because he knows how he should be feeling, but he just feels really stressed.

I am so confused.. I thought this was going to be the next chapter in our story and what he wanted but I am now at a loss. Is this normal?

It can be very normal. Being scared, anxious, worried etc are all real feelings. He is obviously a smart guy and understands that having a baby is more than love and cuddles. Yes he will need time to work through those feelings. There is nothing wrong he just understands this is a big deal!

Don't worry - it is very common for guys to get anxious even if it is planned! They stress about being the main breadwinner etc. all very normal. Give him time to get used to idea and I'm sure he will start to become excited. Especially with attending ultrasounds xx

Yep they take a bit of time to come to terms with the point of no return!
When bub arrives he will realise he was being silly and he will be absolutely in love. Ive been through it 4 times! 2 unplanned , 2 planned !
