My Husband and I are wanting to look into adoption within Australia. We have been talking about it for years and we are now serious about it. We have been on the web and looked at the government website for it. Has anyone here adopted a child/children? Can you tell me your experiences and how it works.

There is a very very small number of children adopted within Australia per year (a handful). It can take a very long time to be approved and it's highly unlikely you'll receive a child unfortunately, which is why most people end up going overseas. I've looked into it, decided it wasn't for me.

What about going through the foster care system? I know a fostered child can be adopted... has anyone done it this way?
