Baby Essentials

Hi Everyone, I hope your having an amazing day!!
Just curious what are the main essentials you need for a newborn baby? I am a FTM 30 weeks to a healthy little boy and just want to know what you found useful to buy for when Bub is born and what you regret buying?

Thanks ladies!!! Xx

Clothes, singlets, bibs, toys, teddies. Bassinet / cot sheets.
I ended up receiving so much at the baby shower that I had to return half of what I'd gotten.
Bottles. I got lots of expensive bottles 'just in case' and most went unused as I breastfed.
Aside from the big things (car seat, pram, bassinet/cot, etc), I stocked up on things like wipes, nappies, nappy rash creams, baby bath stuff. But with nappies, I got the next size up from newborn (and I'm glad I did, because I received multiple newborn nappies at the baby shower).
I also never used my rocker, but that's just because my son never showed much interest in it.
But most FTM biggest problem is not being able to resist the excitement of going on a massive shopping spree lol I just suggest you wait until after the baby shower, if you're having one, and see what you get.
So long as baby is clean, dressed, well fed with a safe place to sleep, he won't need much more. Just lots of love and hugs. You can never give a baby too much hugs. :)

Somewhere to sleep - cradle, bassinet, bed divider.
Somewhere to put down - bouncer, play mat, padded blanket,
Coconut oil for massage, scalp, dry skin, nappy rash, everything.
Pram and sling wrap.
Onesies and singlets in 0000 and 000.
Blankets of different thickness - don't go crazy.
Nappies and wipes as many as you can stock up on.
Nipple shields, breast pads, maternity pads, regular pads, breastfeeding gel pads for boobs.
Carseat and hanging toy.
A big pack of terry towel nappies to use as rags for all purpose they're fab.
Thats all I think. Get the rest as you know what you and baby like and need. Congrats so fun!

About 7-9 singlets, some grow suits, and a handful of outfits, nappies. Mattress protectors to protect the cot/bassinet/ your bed from poo explosions and baby vomit. Baby wipes. Wraps. Some place to sleep a Bassinet is not necessary but we did use it. 2 bottles in case you don't enjoy breastfeeding. A stroller and car seat. That's all I needed, and just pick other stuff up as you go along.

Oh how exciting! Congratulations! Right, I have 3 children. When I had my first I bought almost everything on the market! By the time my 3rd came unexpectedly, I had sold all the baby stuff, and only bought absolutely what I needed.
I never ever used a change table, I always changed my kids on the floor/lounge/bed even though I had a change table.
A great feeding chair is really essential, especially with your first as breastfeeding is challenging, you want to be comfortable. I fell asleep a lot in mine too with number 1 Bub (because you can sleep whenever they do!)
I always had a few bottles and formula at the ready in case b/feeding didn't work out. Turned out to be a godsend with Bub 1 in the middle of the night when he could latch on and was screaming.
There is a product sold in some chemists called Infants Friend, it's natural and is just awesome. Great for wind, unsettled tummies etc. We used it with all 3 babies.
Towelling nappies are a definite for rags, I used them all the time.
I had all babies in the bedroom with me until 12 weeks, so used my basinette a lot.
Baby carrier, so you can grocery shop, hang out washing etc and have two hands free. I used mine so much.
Buy a pram that can be converted to a double pram (I had a City Mini City Select - brilliant).
Also get yourself some nice soft fluffy towels for baby. I didn't use a baby bath with #3, she just went straight into the shower with me.
Good luck mumma, what an exciting time for you xxx

For me personally the pram is a waste of money. When I went shopping I just used the trolleys my kids preferred it much better. I once when to target just to have a browse and ended up putting my pram in a trolly and then my daughter in the trolly as she hated the pram. from then on I just ditched the pram altogether and I've now got 4 kids all 2yrs apart.

However with my 4th child (5mths old) I'm using a baby carrier which has been amazing as I can hold my 2yr and 4yr olds hands and my 6yr old will hold her sisters hand at school drop off /pick up.

I love my change table I still change my 2yr old there. I never bothered with a feeding chair the couch was just fine, but I don't like hiding away and our lounge room isn't big enough to fit one. I breastfed all mine till well over 1yr.

A baby bath seat is a lifesaver for us, I shower with the kids so it's great to have bub in his own seat whilst I can wash the other kids. My 4th baby probably used the baby bath a handful of times (he loves the shower more) but with my other kids we used it little bit more.
