I'm 37 and have a 9 month old Bub. I'd like to have another and am unsure how close to have them. Given my age, I don't have huge amount of time but I also didn't want 2 babies too close together as I'm worried about the toddler tantrums etc and managing a newborn. (I do also have an 18 year old so have had first hand experience of that age). I'd like to hear experiences from IM's that waited a few years and IM's that had their babies closer together. I'm weighing up the pros and cons before we start trying again.

I have a 2 yr and 18 day age gap and a 4.5 year age gap. The 2 year age gap was not as good as the 4.5 year age gap but I think that's more to do with my age. I wasn't calm at 21, I wasn't settled and by gees I wasn't ready. When I was 27 and had my third I was calmer and more ready for a third baby. It really does come down to you and how you cope with the baby you have now.
We have 2 yrs 2 mths. In hind sight I think 2 little ones would be easier or a bigger gap. It might just be that 2 kids are hard work no matter when you have them :)
I have 2year 5 months and 2 year 4 months between my kids. I don't know any different so i can't compare but I've found the age gape managable. By the time a new baby came along, toddler was sleeping through, toilet trained and just that little bit more independent. I definitely would have struggled any earlier.
My first boys are 11 months apart, born the same year, I think it's great! It was much easier when they were babies. Then had daughter 3.5 years after my youngest son, (3 miscarriages in between) but that age gap is great. The boys were potty trained and could help me out when in need.
Ours are 14.5 months apart. It was tricky at times. But basically learnt everything at the same time.
Slept at the same times.
My younger toilet trained before my older. My younger walked at 10 months, and was then capable to do things with my older.
My younger is now learning off my olders 1st year of school, she is very prepared for her 1st year next year.
Now 5 and 6 years old they are soooo easy!
They are fantastic mates.
