Pooing in pants

Pooing in pants

Hi,
I my DD is 4 years old. She is fully toilet trained with wees, however, not with pooing.
We have tried everything with getting her to do them on the toilet.
Every now and then she does, but then regresses back to her pants.
Her daycare is starting to get annoyed about it because other parents are starting to complain about it.
I am at wits end about what to do...

Oh my goodness. Living and breathing it with my 3.5 year old son! he's been wee trained (including nights - no nappies) for 18 months, but he WILL not poo on the toilet. He will scream bloody murder if I put him on. I can't put him in kindy next year until he does it and I have tried everything. Rewards, promise of lavish gifts, keeping him naked all day (cause he won't poo without undies on - but then he just holds it in for days and gets really constipated and upset), even time outs for pooing, and giving his older sisters treats when he poos his undies (not my finest hour, but I'm desperate). he seems to have an irrational fear of pooing sitting down? he won't even try it? There's youtube videos you could try about kids pooing on the toilet. My niece was 4 when she finally did it, too. It's always with poos! No advice, but I feel you. My other two were completely trained by 2 years old. So I think it is just the child.

My sister called me in tears with this same question a few months ago about my niece. My advice to her was make doing a poo exciting. When you do a poo say "mum's going to do a poo" also leave the door open and talk to them while you are on the toilet. Stick with the rewards, a jar of m&m's on the fridge. Get every one on board (siblings, dad) when ever anyone does a poo on the toilet just get really excited, celebrate it, clap your hands jump up and down say "mum, dad..... did a poo on the toilet yay now they get some m&m's." It worked a treat for myself and my sister. Within a few days my niece snuck off to the toilet and did a poo and called out to my sister when she was finished and demanded her m&m's. Good luck.

My DS was day time trained, however at 4 he still couldn't last the night, he would save his poo's until the night time nappy went on, without fail no matter what time that nappy went on within 5 minutes he'd poo. It took a while as he wouldn't tell me why he wouldn't do it in the toilet, but I eventually worked out that he hated it when it would splash back and the water touched his bum, so I started laying a piece if toilet paper over the water and he was happy to do it in the toilet.

So just before Christmas we took DD to see Santa.
We told DD that for Santa to come, she has to be a big girl and do her poo's on the toilet.
Finally we had success! and ever since she has continued to use the toilet.
It has been such a relief as I am due for #2 any day now.
Determination and patience is all the advice I can give.
And try any form of bribery!
