Hey parents,
Sorry it's long i am running out of ideas.
please help me because i am going insane,
my little miss is 2 and a half and has the curliest hair i have seen in a long time.
We're struggling so bad with headlice and it is driving me crazy but this has created two issues because i am currently in my second trimester and she has passed them on to me and i am at a loss for treatments that are pregnancy safe.
My questions are - please recommend any pregnancy safe treatments or home remedies you may have.
I also want to ask other parents of beautiful curly haired children how they deal with this? She didn't inherit the curls from me so i don't have first hand experience but i can see it's awful for her, combs terrify her. Currently i am using a treatment on her that i can't use on myself. I'm putting it in her hair in the bath then drowning her hair in conditioner and combing it out while she is in there or else i'd be chasing her all over the house. This makes her cry and scream so much because it is pulling at her hair and pulling little knots out. I am getting so many lice out that it is making me feel like the worst parent and as if i am not keeping my child clean enough because once i think i've got them all - the next day i can still see them as if they were just hiding in her curls.
How can i make having such tight curly hair easier on her and potentially her sibling if bub 2 gets them! (they can thank their father for that one!)

The technique is called wet combing. It involves a fine tooth metal comb and liters of cheap conditioner :) comb every day for a couple of weeks then every few days from then on.
Oh the kp24 solution is brilliant for removing eggs
Oh a trick I learned. ......is treat then wash as normal....use a broad tooth comb THEN condition. Not as many knots to make it a nightmare and it removes loose hair before it tangles the comb. To keep her still while combing wrap her tightly with a towel and hold her between your legs with arms in the towel ;) its a handy trick even the hospital uses for when kids need to wear respiratory masks and have blood tests its safe.
I have SUPER curly hair...let me share what I learned ((my hair is tiny ringlets in an afro)) Wet hair in bath/shower COVER in conditioner. Rinse out, BRUSH starting from bottom to top. whilst child is in bath ((or after shower and dried and dressed - my preferred method make the child comfortable because you will be there a while)) comb hair using a knit comb, dipping the comb into a separate container of water to rinse out lice and eggs. repeat until childs hair is completely combed through TWICE and no lice or eggs are visible. Wash out childs hair with shampoo and conditioner.
Now, COVER hair and scalp in watered down Teatree oil. It WONT prevent lice but makes it a thousand times next time. the lice will just glide out ;-)
Repeat daily until you don't get any more.
Wash blankets, and everything else in disinfenctant. Just precautionary.
Good luck!
