Hi ladies, just wondering for anyone who has had a membrane sweep at the end of their pregnancy if it worked and how long it took? I had one done this afternoon and just not 100% sure what to expect! Thanks :)

It might have been done it might not have a number of internal exams were done leading up to my first. But it all went from ignoring that I was 3 weeks over due to ok we will induce very quickly. The cervix was like a brick wall nothing was going anywhere......24 hours after putting gels on she was born.
We didn't wait around with my second it was gels on the day she was due because she turned at the last minute we had been looking at a possible breech birth or an emergency c section through the placenta if she hadn't moved so he wasn't going to risk her turning again.
When being induced it can either be fast or slow. I had Braxton hicks for the whole of the 24 hours until a very short 2 hour labour.
Inducing by gels sweeping or even breaking the waters are all ways to try to agitate the natural process along in the hopes that the agitation will strengthen the muscles contractions and the body will take over from there to produce full labour.
Good luck! Fingers crossed tight that labor kicks off.
I had 2 sweeps with my first and 2 with second but they didn't work and went overdue and induced both times.
However I know a lot of women that it worked for and they all said it was a few hours after they started getting niggling pain which then progresses to contractions.
I really hope it works and labor kicks off for you really soon :-)
Good luck!
I think its one of those things that works sometimes and doesn't work other times. Hopefully it works for you. They like to do the least invasive things first to see if that gets things moving.
I had one done for my second child. Never again it was so painful, BUT it did put me into labour less than 24 hrs after
I had mine in the afternoon around 5pm and started labour around 12:30am the next morning.
I had one at 38 weeks on a Wednesday afternoon. I went into labour on Thursday night and she was born Friday morning. Good luck Mumma! xxx
I had one with each of my boys.
Baby 1 was 2 weeks over due and sweep did nothing. Was eventually induced with breaking waters.
Baby 2 was born less then 24 hours after sweep. Was done on my due day.
Baby 3 was born 3 days later. Sweep was done 3 weeks early because I started getting bad baby blues. Once labor started baby was born in 45 mins from contractions starting.
Yes with both babies.
First time I'm not sure it worked, gave birth 3 days after stretch and sweep and had done a lot of other things in that time to help baby come out.
Second time waters broke, had been having irregular not very productive contractions for 3 hours, midwife did a sweep and contractions amped up significantly, baby was born 1 hour later!!
