Hi. I am looking for people who have experience with medication for anxiety while pregnant. I came off pristiq about 6 months ago which I was on for depression so we could start trying for a baby. Now I am experiencing anxiety on a level I never have before. But we are still trying to get pregnant so I don't know if there is anything I can take to help. I am see a psychologist and I will talk to my GP but I would really like some personal stories. Thanks.

Yes you can! I wont give a list of drugs because I'm not a pharmacist or a doctor and believe that it's not my place to do that. but there are options. Talk to your GP asap, you don't have to feel this way.
I was told to go onto anti depressants due to my history with depression and I am currently pregnant..! Talk to your GP as they say it is healthier for you to be taking your meds so you dont stress yourself and the baby out (atleast that is what they told me). Have me say this i had a bad experience on pristiq.
(Unrelated to your question) Some advice my sister gave to me while my partner and i where trying to concieve(i was stressing out as nothing was happening). Stop treating sex like it is a chore, enjoy it and it will happen. I also found when i was ovulating, the day before i would be depressed and feeling quite down and low, then the next day it was like I was on cloud nine. good luck..
Speak to your doc there are safe options. The depression and anxiety depending on how severe it is can impact the development of the feotus so while it is scary it is important not to ignore. Its best to actually see a psychiatrist about the finer points of psychiatric medications.
Rodney Whyte is a highly knowledgeable pharmacist at Monash Medical Center in Melbourne and can help. He is well-known for his expertise on medications in pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you google his name you should be able to find some contact details for him. He assisted me when I was looking for a suitable anti-depressant when breastfeeding.
I second rodney whyte and talkn to your gp
I was on effexor at the start of my pregnancy, and as there are no real studies, the dr tried to take me off it, which resulted in all sorts of crazy withdrawals and major crippling anxiety, so after speaking with 2 other drs and rodney, it was decided i was to go back on it immediately. as the risks of me not taking it were far worse than the risk of me taking it.
I have since had a very healthy, happy little boy whom i have breastfed for the past 19 months (apparently very minimal cross over with breastmilk)
