Possible move to Mt Isa

I want to hear from Mt Isa mums. We are thinking of moving to Mt Isa for work purposes. Problem is I haven't great things about the town. From people banging on your doors at all hours to it just being an unsafe place full stop. I want to know what it's really like.

I want to know about the lead content and it's affects on your children. I have a young family and this honestly scared the bejesus out of me.

Finally I currently run a successful Zumba class. Records indicate that there is only one class I out there. Is there room for more?

I am currently expecting my first child but have a heap of friends in town with young families. If you are worried about the lead levels there is the living with lead alliance that will be able to give you tips for living here, as well as free lead level testing at qml. As for the people banging on your door... It does happen, there are dodgy areas in town but there are in every town. I have never had a problem but I have also lived in places with good fencing and we keep our gate padlocked so no one can let our dogs out. This town is a good place with wonderful people but can be hard. I would suggest you join the mount isa community page on fb and you will be able to talk to a lot of people who will go out of their way to help you. Also just so you are aware we are on the verge of level 4 water restrictions with the beginnings of a second failed wet season so there is a lot of talk and concern about that and what it will mean for the town
