Mums, how do you know when you're ready for a child?
I'm 30 and just got married... I know I want kids one day but it scares me and don't think I'm ready. (I've suffered an eating disorder and depression in past) Naturally all people are asking after the wedding is about kids, it's not that I feel pressured but I know at my age I don't have forever either!

I don't think you ever really know, but the desire to have one just overwhelms any fears you have, Have you discussed your feers with your GP or if you have a psychologist?
I find just knowing I have my ducks in a row and have my support networks in place in case makes big decisions easier.
That being said don't feel pressured to do something because people assume it's the next thing to check off your 'to do list'. Yes there is a time element with having kids and we shouldn't assume that when we are 40 it will happen but being pressured into doing it before you are comfortable is wrong too.
I am also 30, engaged and have over come an eating disorder, still suffer with depression among other disorders. I honestly didn't want kids until I met my partner almost 2yrs ago. We talked about having kids and started planning for it then BOOM I got pregnant. Currently 30w 5days. I have been finding it hard as I am still in a controlled mind set from my anorexia, but the doctors keep explaining to me that I am not eating for two but for 1.1.. The hormones at the start for me put me back a bit (depression), and compared to most of the women on here I have had an extreamly easy pregnancy (nausea for 2weeks, no morning sickness the whole time, tiredness for the first trimester, energy back for the second, heart burn currently) the main thing I have been keeping on top of is eating healthy and not chowing down prepackaged easy junk food.. My constant worry is that I am not eating enough but the doctor tells me I am in a health pregnancy weight range.. I know this doesn't help you with answers of 'are you ready?' But it is a perspective from a former anorexic. My partner has been so supportive through this, so make sure you talk to your husband, family and friends so you know you have them there to support you.. :)
You don't!! & there never seems to be a 'perfect' time to have them either - there's always a reason you could not - but so many precious wonderful reasons to go ahead :)
