My son refuses to sleep in his own bed!
Hey all,
Just a question about my 3 year old, ever since he was a baby he was in the cot, until he was about 1 he has slept in my bed with me, now At age 3 I ended up buying him a single bed and I tried to explain that he is a big boy and that he should start sleeping in his own bed, I got him a little TV so he could watch movies to help him sleep (I do realise it's probably not the best idea). But it seemed to work well for a few days (he is in my room also so I'd stay in their until he passed out and I'd sneak out). Now all of a sudden he is refusing to sleep keeps screaming at me monsters dogs etc i can see he is distressed. Or he will fall asleep in my bed and then within me having a shower and I just sit down he runs out telling me to come to bed and I am running out of ideas on how to get him to sleep in his own bed, is it common for kids this age to react like this? Can anyone give me any tips to get him to except that mummy's bed is out of the option? I don't want to leave him in their just crying, I would feel horrible any advice would be great thanks ladies! ?

read stories, set a good bedtime routine. dinner shower PJ's. Rather than kids movies try David Attenboroughs Life series....it is worth its weight in gold. a small cup of mild chamomile tea or milk before bed as part of the routine.
and don't have him in your room at all, Mummies room is off limits you have to knock to come in. this is your room over here with your bed and your toys...
Monsters in Bedrooms we have dealt with with a decorative sword, yes we actually have a sword, we call the Monster slayer which is usually mounted on the wall in the living room.....on nights there are monsters and nightmares and things which scurry in the night the monster slayer by step dad is taken down from the wall.....and he goes into the bedroom which is suspect and he closes the door while we wait outside he bangs and shouts and huffs and SLAYS THE BEAST!...all while wearing a bright red fez....hope that helps....
