Hello fellow imperfect mummies. I'm really not coping. My eldest who is 6. She is behind in school and we ( the teacher and I) are starting to think that she may have some underlying reson that is coursing her to struggle at school and everyday activities. Last year she has a horrible report and was below standard for her age in every subject at school. Nothing has been mentioned to my daughter! She has little no no attention span, can not follow the simplest of tasks, no stop talking and doesn't no how to stop, she is very routin and it that is broken she has a melt down that she doesn't know how to stop. The smallest of thing set off her melt downs. She is Deliberately mean to her little sister ( 2 and a half). It's driving me Insane and I really can't stand to be around her anymore. We go to the park she flips out when we leave, we do art she flips out when it's time to pack up. I put her movie on she flips out for it's not the one she wants. I can never win!!! I move closer to family so they could help but then they never do. I have not out. I'm a single mum and I'm falling. I try so hard to make this child happy and she just has a melt down. I get her to listen to relaxation music to try and calm her and that works sometime but I can't have that with me all the time. I am so tired And out of ideas.

Take her to a GP and insist on a referral to a pediatrician. Don't go on a public list, go on a private list. What you have described fits the description for High Functioning Autism and a number of other conditions. It is very important you get on to this early, rather than later. That way you and your daughter can get the help she needs and get back on track. You need the right supports. You should also ask for a referral for a child psychologist at the same time. It's also worth seeing a speech pathologist as they can help with remedial reading etc.
