I have a 7 month old son, whom I am breastfeeding. I am so sick of people asking if he is sleeping through the night. Normally, no, he isn't. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried to get him to sleep through the night... I've tried bathing him right before bed, making sure he is full, letting him cry, patting him.. they don't work. He sleeps through when he wants to which is sporadically. He has slept in his own room since he was 6 weeks old. I feed him, sometimes he falls asleep and I put him down, or he lets go and I put him down and he puts himself to sleep. He has his 2 naps during the day, which range from an hour to two hours each. I'd like him to sleep through the night. I am just so sick of people judging! Any tips?

People asking is he sleeping through the night is not judging. It's asking a question and having a conversation. It is not unusual for 1 year olds not to sleep through the night and even two year olds. Of course a lot of people hope there babies sleep through the night and those who have been through it remember our 7month olds keeping us up at night and most of really HOPE that our loved ones have babies that sleep through the night, but sadly for most of us they are unicorns!
Not unusual at all, I don't understand why people ask or even expect it either, just makes you feel shit or want to kill them. My mum asks me if mine are sleeping through for me now when they're only weeks old! Worse than that is saying what they 'should be' doing..
My kids don't sleep through and it's tiring but what I tell myself is 1) it shall pass and 2) one day I'll wish they were home and having a cuddle instead of out partying!
My 2.5 yr old has only JUST started to sleep through and my 11month old slept through from 4. Weeks to 4 months old then changed to wake up, up to 8 times a night (usually twice though).
You're doing a god job and just keep doing what you're doing.
Most babies of this age don't sleep through consistently - growth spurts, teething, sickness and hunger mean that babies often wake at least once. It's still developmentally appropriate for them to wake. Don't stress.
