Hi IM's, I'm just wondering if any of you have started on an antidepressant during the second half of your pregnancy? I'm currently being treated for depression through counselling with a psychologist but I'm really not coping. I'm terrified after the birth I'm going to end up with full blown PND and it will affect the relationship I have with my children (my current depression is already affecting my relationship with children and husband).
I've always been so against antidepressants for myself because I've seen the affects it's had on my mother and I'm scared of it being a life sentence, of people (mostly my family) finding out and judging me and the potential affects it's going to have on my unborn baby.
So I'm just after experiences from people who have started them during pregnancy and I guess anyone else who's been on them. Was your baby born with withdrawal symptoms or any complications, were you able to breastfeed, what side affects did you have and are you still on them/how long were you on them for?
***Please note I am speaking to my GP about this, I just want personal experiences.
Thanks :)

I started anti depressants (Zoloft) when I was 20 wks pregnant with #4, I wasn't coping, we'd lost our eldest child and had miscarriages, I did not want to start them, but the ob recommended it, I researched them and spoke with different pharmacists etc, and they were fine
Bubby was born a perfect 9lb, an very contented beautiful baby, I breastfed him for 16 mths without drama :)
It's been 4 years since I started them, I've had no complications, except at the very start the first few doses made me dizzy, I'm starting to wean off them now
Hi I started them at 20wks with #3 as I was not coping at all. I had previously had pnd and didn't want to go their again. Meds helped amazingly and allowed me to enjoy my new born Bub. No complications at all and still on meds 4 years later
