How early can a blood test detect pregnancy ? I've been having unprotected sex for the past 2 weeks and I was wondering if I should wait until this months period is due before getting a blood test ? I just am so eager to be pregnant, it's my first child and I literally have no patience lol

Definitely wait to see if your period comes and I'd even do a home pregnancy test before running off to the doctors. Otherwise you'll be running off to the GPs every two weeks. Try and relax and wait for pregnancy symptoms.

Blood test at gp won't pick it up until your hcg is over 50 which is roughly 4-5 wks pregnant, they count pregnancy from last period not from conception so until your period is 3-4 days late at the absolute earliest! Home tests say you can do from day of missed period but you have to have enough hcg in your system so even if you are success rate on day of missed period is minimum until the levels build. As hard as it is its best to wait a few days after it was due
