Stress and anxiety or something else? Update and an irregular heart beat.

Stress and anxiety or something else? Update and an irregular heart beat.

2 months ago I posted a question after experiencing some pretty crappy symptoms my doctor said was just stress and anxiety.
I was getting dizzy, nauseous, head aches etc. I was (still am) finding it hard to function with 3 kids and was terrified of what else could have been wrong with me.
My thyroid had been tested and came back fine.

I finally got in to see a cardiologists who said I have an irregular heart beat (my heart skips a beat) and its not life threatening (not quite what google says tho) but its still scaring the crap out of me when it happens, who wouldn't be worried if their heart skipped a few beats and you became dizzy?

Thank you all who took time out to respond to my first post.

So now I'd like to hear from those with similar and how they deal with it?
I'm finding its happening more so when I'm on my period (as well as the other symptoms) and my heart skips when I'm even slightly out of breath.

TIA :)

Both my sister and I have irregular heart beats. Have had them for 10 years. No problems. I found increasing my fitness and dealing with my anxiety actually reduced the anxiety. I work out hard, there is nothing I stop doing. My sister had some surgery so she just let the anesthetist know.

Is it something you'll have for the rest of your life?
Do you find it's set off by anything in particular?
I've gained 20kgs in the past 18 months (depression) so trying to improve my health and fitness but when I get the palpitations I stop because they scare me so much. Even walking out to the mail box brings them on.

the more I think about them the worse it is. The more I push through and get on with it the better I get. If I allow myself to become hyper focused or hyper aware I can get myself in a mess. I don't even notice now

I've been suffering with the same symptoms for about 3 years now, but it has increased in the last year. My heart skips beats then occassionally it goes into a funny rythym but fast!! We called an ambulance once but it stops within a seconds, very scary when it happens though. Ive had the 24 hour monitor, but it didnt happen while wearing it, to diagnose it has to be caught on the monitor. I found a webpage called heal svt the natural way, with some helpfull advice. I find around my period it is worse too, also when im stressed. Tips i have come across to help are cutting out gluten, adding fish oil, vit d, and magnesium to my diet. I find when it happens i get dizzy too and sometimes sweaty. I read that bearing down and ice on your neck helps. I hate it, and have started to fear it happening.

I fear it too, I sometimes dread waking up to another day of it.

I've been avoiding gluten (apart from around me period) and have added magnesium suppliments but will look into the fish oil and vitamin d as well as the website, thank you and I hope you find some relief.

I've had palpitations and find (for me at least) they are diet related: palpitations were one of the first symptoms I had quickly followed by ibs.
These days I avoid lactose and lightly follow the fodmap diet and it's rare I suffer palpitations.

It's worth considering a food intolerance could be a trigger for your palpitations.

I've asked my doctor to look into food allergies but she wanted to wait to see what the cardiologists said.
Now I've seen one I'll be asking again.
My dad is coeliac and so I have been avoiding gluten which helps with some other issues I've been having but when my period comes I eat anything in sight so now you have me thinking if it could be related too, thank you!

That's awesome.
I should add that whenever I slip up and eat something I shouldn't it all returns quite quickly anywhere from 30mins to a couple hours later (palpitations, severe stomach cramps, headaches, nausea, ibs), it's all about finding your tolerance threshold.
If you have a family history of food intolerance it is immensely worthwhile trying out certain things.
