Ladies I need help.
I am a first time mum and I have a beautiful son who is 6 weeks old.
I can't get him to take a bottle at all.
He hates it, won't suck it, screams, cries, pushes it out with tongue.
I have tried multiple bottle brands (5) I have tried all different times of day, when he is hungry, when he isn't.
They say persistence is key and I'm persistent!
My husband works away for work and would love to give our baby a bottle or help out.
Currently I have to time everything between feeds to ensure I am home to breast feed him.
He can't go to his nans for a few hours or a day so mum and dad can do anything as all he will take is the breast.
He will be headed to daycare in a few months and I need him to take a bottle.
Yes a syringe does work but what a massive pain and I can hardly ask my daycare and mother in law to give him a syringe I do not feel comfortable asking others to administer breastmilk via syringe.
Surely there is a Way?

Will he take a dummy? Sometimes getting used to a dummy when not hungry is a stepping stone to accepting a bottle.
Unfortunately it can take much much longer than six weeks for some babies. It can take longer than 6 weeks to establish one type of feeding let alone 2.
Hi, yes he will take a dummy we introduced a dummy to help him settle and helping his wind. Worked wonders for both along with having his lip tie corrected.
I knew it might take time I wouldn't introduce a bottle until a month old incase I created nipple confusion :(
I guess I just didn't anticipate a bottle being a problem.
My daughter has the same problem, I learnt today if you screw the top on the bottle too tight it creates a vacuum effect and they can't suck out? Maybe loosen the top a little and try that ? good luck
