Hi mums,
I am recently seperated and have kids fulltime except 2 weekends a mth. I work but collecting family tax entitlements.
My question is does anyone collect family tax benefit (as a base rate only) and not have an active assesment with childsupport office and have a private arrangement from the other parent for a form of child support?
im worried that if I have the assesment done it will affect my family tax entitlements bringing them down as they will expect me to collect that amount from the other.
Ah just trying to make ends meet.

I can tell you my experience but I don't know if it's changed so always check with centrelink.
I had a formal assessment and had CS parents collected through the agency. That way if my ex didn't pay, my centrelink payment was not reduced.
Get it collected through csa if you are worried about not getting cs. Base rate is quite low, I had it with my kids from not collecting cs before I got an exemption (dv).
Hey Anonymous! Kelly here from the IM team.
I'd give Centrelink a call and chat to them about this - it would be the safest and best way to get the most accurate information for your individual case...
Wish you all the best! x
I know this is an older post and you may have sorted it now, but wanted to share that clink told me because I had received all this money in CS, I now had to repay a heap of FTB I had received for that fin year. Problem was, I HADN'T received anything like the amount they had stated he should have been paying and I was actually eligible foe more money from them.
Unfortunately they weren't garnishing his wages to pay me and so there was no PROOF of his lack of payment. I was hit with a 1200+ tax bill for FTB repayment which they are still deducting fortnightly. I had been receiving money via Direct Debit, but this was not considered proof. No leg to stand on. So now CSA take the money - all $34.00 a month - and have a proper record. Too little too late, but hopefully not for you. Please have them collect on your behalf if you aren't already. :)
