DHS (Department of Human Services) / CPS (Child Protection Services)

I left my ex due to his ICE drug addiction and violent nature. DHS was notified by Police in March and 3 months later DHS decide to step in and do something. My ex has 3 boys under 6 living with him full time and we have a child on the way.
Why would DHS tell my ex 4 days before that they will be coming to drug test him in a few days while visiting him at home? What's the point in giving a drug addict notice to detox beforehand? Not just that.... DHS were also told that his house was always disorganised and dirty and hardly any food in the house. He now has time to clean and stock up on food only because DHS is coming.

Am I wrong to think that 4 days notice is ridiculous?

No! You're not wrong to feel this way, that is absolute crap! Why they would give him notice I have no idea! That is wrong, I was under the impression that when DHS is called on somebody that they just 'show up' unannounced without warning & go from there?! I with you that's absurd ?

Good! How the hell are they supposed to catch him out & stuff when he know knows they are on to him! He'll just find a way to hide everything from them now. But with the drug test I'm sure if he's recently been using that it'll show up as I'm pretty sure it takes a while to leave your system (longer than 4 days anyway) I just hope that they test him properly (blood test) all supervised with the wee test if that's what they are going to do as he's probably already thought about a way to 'pass' it.... Good luck with it all hunni & I hope they see this scumbag for who he is & get those children someone who can care for them properly

I have read that it can be detected in urine between 3-5 days of use, but he has 4 days of recovery after being awake for a week. They have given him too much notice. He just buys a detox drink that they sell in a shop and within 48 hours he's clear. When they visit him, his house will be spotless, he'll have food in the fridge and cupboard and no drugs in his system. Just ridiculous! Police don't give you 4 days warning before they drug test you. There are children involved, you think they would just show up unannounced. It's a urine test, not a blood test unfortunately.
Can you believe DHS spoke to me about possibly getting a blood sample from my baby when she's born to see if I was on drugs? My midwife told them I'm not on drugs and to get their priorities straight. They were more concerned about my unborn child than his 3 children that are in a drug affected environment.
I just don't understand the law today, it's soo easy to get away with soo much.

That is absolutely rediculous. Can the mum of the other 3 boys give the police a call for a welfare check? I'm pretty sure they won't give notice. Or you can call them. Depending on what and how much he is using it won't show up after 4 days. This is why kids are put in danger. Stupid F*cking system! Sorry, that just makes me angry.

The mother isn't involved with her children, she doesn't have a say. She's a drug addict. I'll be calling DHS today.
