How do I decide which career is right for me?

Hi

I am wondering if anyone has any career advise for me? I have no qualifications or real experience in anything but would love to do something with my life. Trouble is, I have no idea what I want to do?! Things that I am interested in change all of the time. I have recently thought about doing graphic design. But am not sure if I am good enough to do it. And I don't want to spend a lot of money trying it, only to find that it's not for me.

I have 2 girls ages 4 and 1. My hubby works fifo 8 days on and 6 days off. We have just bought a block of land and am now saving to start the house. I want to be able to spend more time with my family and to be involved in my kids schooling. But I also want to find a job I love. And that I'm proud of.

At the moment I have a good job that pays really well, but I'm basically doing data entry. I will be 30 next year and I feel like I should know what it is I want to do in life. I would love to be a stay at home mum, but with the commitments we have made, it's not possible. Plus I don't mind working. But if I'm going to HAVE to work, I want something that I will enjoy and be happy about getting out of bed for.

Does anyone have any advice? I have no idea where to start to find out what my "dream" job should be.

Perhaps think about why you want to do graphic design. Are you good at drawing or sculpture? What other things are you good at?

You mentioned you do data entry and don't mind it. That's pretty good that you don't mind it. Have you considered further training to perhaps get you to the next level?

Happy to help with going through ideas with you. Feel free to pm me! Xx

Somethings to think about that may help is writing down what you DON'T want in a career! Like for me I hate waking up early, I don't like waiting (as in for things to progress I'm more of a busy person) I don't like being secluded from a team, so therefore being a baker is not for me (this is just an example, but you get the picture) so many people 'like things' before they know what's involved! Graphic design might be all the things you love! Anyway it's a good trick, I did it when I decided to become a phelbotomist! :) good luck! You can do anything!
