To turn the car capsule yet?

To turn the car capsule yet?

I have a 6 month old son. We are about to drive from the GC to Sydney. He is ready to have his capsule turned around in the car, but I'm thinking it may be best to leave him rear facing for this car trip.

I'm in two minds about it. On one hand he is strong enough to be turned, his legs are getting too long to be rear facing (they you ah the back of the seat), and it would be easier to entertain him.

But on the other hand, I thought he may sleep better in the reclined capsule. And I worry about the news stories about babies falling asleep and cutting off their air supply.

Just looking for any opinions or past experience...

Personally I would recline for this long hall to Sydney but that's just my opinion. If you decide to turn bub around though maybe invest in a neck rest/pillow? Might ease your mind... :-)

I believe in rear facing for as long as possible. I purposely bought a car seat with high turn markers. My son is 10 months and still at least a few months away from being turned.
There are done videos in YouTube that might be worth watching :)

I turned my son at 5 months old. He only just fitted, but he screamed the whole way in the car until we turned him. It was hell. So I'm glad I turned him

Umm, just FYI if you have an actual capsule (i.e. one that can be removed from the car with a handle and clicks into a base) that cannot be forward facing at all - buy a convertible car seat. If you said "capsule" and meant "seat" then ignore the above.

If he is not at the "stop use" line of the capsule or the "turn forward facing" marker of his seat then don't turn him. If he's in a capsule and you have to replace with a convertible seat, he will likely still be under the rear face line in that. It's far safer rear facing. 6 months is a minimum legal age only, legs touching the back of the seat is not a problem. At that age they will often have their legs bent in a froggy style anyway.

And just a warning, this is gonna open a HUGE can of worms once it hits Facebook so just be prepared.

I would not turn a 6 month old forward facing. It's actually recommended to rear face until 2 years. Please do some research and really really think about it before you turn your precious child around.
