I'm kinda in a state of shock, I'm 19, have a beautiful son, getting married in 2 month and have just had an appointment with my doctor and have been told there is a high chance I have breast cancer.... I'm freaking out. Plus I have no health insurance so I have no idea how I will pay for my memmogram and if I do get diognosed how will I pay for treatment. And on top of that, me and my partner have been trying for bub #2 for 6 months now and have a strange feeling this is the month but can't take a test for another 4 days. Need advice on how I can get free or affordable memmogram and/or treatment, and how to cope through this so young. Thanks, terrified Imperfect Mum.

I'm in a similar boat, my doctor told me the same thing on Tuesday & she gave me a referral to go to a radiologist for chest x rays & ultrasound of both breasts
. Did your doctor give you a referral? You can ask for a referral to a place that bulk bills but otherwise you can find one yourself as they should accept any referral. The place I went to normally charge but when they heard I have a family history of breast cancer they said they will bulk bill it.
The results of my tests there show cysts & I need a biopsy done to determine if treatment needs to be done. For this I am going back next week to the same place & assuming they will bulk bill again as they didn't mention a charge. I also don't have health insurance but you can get treatment through the public system which is no charge.
I am also young with a 1 year old & getting married so I understand the shock of it all. It has been a horrible week so far, I wish you all the best!
PS we are also trying for bub #2! Are going to put that on hold though until I have the biopsy & find out what the results of that are. Hopefully I answered some of your questions, your doctor will be able to clarify answers for you so don't be afraid to go back for a chat on what your options are x
