Child care curriculum

My question relates to child care curriculum. My just turned 3 year old is in a pre-kindy room where they 'learn' about random advanced things like body systems, states of Aust and primary/secondary colours!! All in a drill it in them type environment. Maybe because I'm a teacher and this doesn't sit well with my philosophy on learning, just wanting to know what other people's opinions on the matter are?? Can't they just go and have fun learning through play and learn fundamental skills like socialization? I'm all for learning, don't get me wrong, but maybe start with counting, alphabet, writing their name etc not advanced concepts!! Am I just being too harsh? I feel like looking for somewhere else to enrol my child, or is this 'normal'?
