Psychological review pending. Could he have a form of autism?

Our next appt at psychologist is on Wednesday. I've done a bit of research and believe my 3 year old has autistic tendencies apart from his engaging personality.
He's painfully attention seeking, obsessed with lights and fans, will go ballistic if we detour on our way home (even with prior warning) and seems to have no understanding of others feelings. I say to people he has tunnell vision, if he sees something he wants, nothing or no one can get in his way. He stays at his dads every weekend and the first thing he does is walk around the house and tell me what's missing or been moved.
He communicates well but has started grunting to get what he wants, has great eye contact and eats well.
But there's just something no quite right.
Has anyone else had any experience with this. I'm dying to know what his psychological review results will be so we can help him and make him less frustrated.

I would definitely have a autism assessment on my to do list. Surely that's one of the assessments the psychologist assessed for?

We had initial appointment and completed assessment form which I assume determine what may be wrong (including autism) It was only after the appts I researched autism and found he has some aspects. It appears the paed and doctors have dismissed due to his outgoing personality, hence my question.

He may fit criteria for PDD-NOS or aspergers, many aspergers kids are extremely chatty

I had similar concerns with my son although he struggles with eye contact and speech. Knowledge is power. Get the psychological results but also try and get an OT and speech assessment done and book in to see a paediatrician. Trust your gut instincts and keep persisting until you get an answer. My son was diagnosed with ASD at 3 and has improved heaps with early intervention.

Thank you. Yes, have had paed appts since birth due to being born 3 months prem. have seen speech therapists in the past and they closed his case as his vocabulary improved and have recently been referred by child health nurse to an early intervention program (which we are yet to start) cause she saw there was something out of the ordinary.
