Teacher or normal practice

I wrote in a couple of weeks ago about seeing whether we should move schools or stay. I was informed by the principle that my sons prep teacher is now being mentored by the other 2 experienced prep teachers. My concern now is that my son is being sent to other class rooms for a "time out" for things like, fidgeting on the mat and making silly noises. My son is not the only one today 2 other boys were sent to other class rooms too. Maybe I'm over reacting, but i just don't think a prepy of 5 or 6 should be sent out of the class for silly complaints. Shouldn't the teacher be able to manage such behaviour? Is this common practice across the board??

I think that's quite normal

sounds like he's interrupting the class, so sounds normal to me. if the teacher has to constantly deal with children who aren't behaving then it really takes away from the other children in the class who are wanting to learn. I've been a parent helper at my daughters prep class and its very distracting for the other children when one kid plays up. spend a day in the classroom and see what the teacher has to deal with, its hard to contain all 22kids, especially when 1 starts it usually riles up others to start being naughty too. the teachers job is to teach not deal with kids who don't want to listen.

I would talk to you son about what kind of behaviour is appropriate at school, that he needs to listen to the teacher, its likely that he's given some kind of warning first before he is sent out.

I imagine the other teachers who keep getting the prep children would be getting sick of it as well. I'd speak to some other parents perhaps or see the teacher yourself
