Do you really know someone?

So last night talk of Ivan milat came up with my husband, me and my in laws after something on tv about him. I didn't really know much about him as I dislike news stories like his. I did know he killed quite a few people though. But after talking about him I was intrigued and decided to google a little bit. Not only was I disturbed to know my daughter drives past his jail ever fortnight to go to her dads (I know nothing would happen, just made me feel uncomfortable)...but I found out that he lived five minutes from me growing up. I was 5 when he was arrested. We could have been at the same grocery shops, or fast food joint or video store. It made me really think that anyone could be capable of what he did or worse....the person sitting outside of the post office, the bank teller, your child's teacher, your next door neighbour.... The point is to just remember to always be cautious for you and your children and lock your car doors while you're inside, that's one safety thing I remember from growing up that I've started passing on toy children.

Yeah we need to be careful etc lock doors at night etc. but the world is no more dangerous than it was 50 or even 100 years ago. In fact in lots of ways it is probably safer. So I choose to take some sensible precautions but not live my life wondering if the person next to me in the coffee shop is the next serial killer. I'm going to enjoy my time on earth.

Yes, be smart, but not scared.

I agree completely :)

There's no point living life afraid, it will just consume you.

Better to be safe, than scared!

I've thought about this before, each person has their own family, their own circle of friends, their own problems and their own little life story.

We obviously can't know everything and everyone, which brings it down to being safe, making smart decisions about who you speak to online, your daily routine, the way you present yourself in public and those type of thing's.

There's no point living like a hermit crab in a little shell, then you'd struggle to get a lot out of life! Enjoy it while your here :)
