Help with getting to sleep.

Help with getting to sleep.

For the last week and a half, I just cannot get to sleep! I end up laying in bed until 4am with my eyes closed, tossing and turning, with random body twitches until I finally fall asleep from exhaustion a bit after 4.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? What did you do to get your sleep back?

I don't have a problem getting to sleep but if I go to bed too early I wake between 3 and 4 and can't get back to sleep. If I stay up to 11-11.30 I have a much better sleep. Maybe try staying up a bit later. Don't use electronic devices like iPads for at lead an hour before bed and I've been to,d if your not asleep within 1/2 an hour to get up for a bit before trying again. I think most people go through stages of not been able to sleep. If you have any other issues health or anxiety etc speak to your doctor they can also effect your sleep patterns.... Good luck.

I have been staying awake laying in bed until around 3 lately. I am finding its because my mind is so cluttered I can't seem to stop it and fall asleep until I'm exhausted. Try some meditation to help relax you and get you in a sleep state first. You are probably over tired to and that sends your body into overdrive. Make sure you don't have any caffeine after 4 and put away all electronic devices and try to exercise more.

I have experienced this to varying degrees since i was a child. For me the solutions i found was falling asleep to relaxation meditation (but for me any little noise and ill wake with a major start if i go to sleep that way)

But now i have a tv and DVD player in my room and i watch episodes of a tv show i Have ALREADY seen and i make my eyes relax and droop and ill lay and watch until I'm on the verg of nodding off, (or start mocro sleeping) turn it off and ill be asleep in a couple mins. Hole process takes me about an hour at the most!

OP here, thanks for all of your suggestions. I've made an appointment to see my doctor on monday as none of the usual remedies were working. I think it's a combination of the hot weather and some thing else, my arms and sometimes whole body were twitching that violently, that I would turn my self over. I read myself to sleep last night. :)
