Single parent assistance

Single parent assistance

Hi IM's, I know each person will have a different answer but the calculators are doing my head in.
I'm becoming a single mum with 2 under 3 years (not working at this time) and need to know roughly how much I'll get assistance wise as to if I can survive on my own. Children's father would pay child support if it was asked of him. He earns $100,000 before tax if that helps.

I get about 850-900 p/f from Centrelink maybe 1000 including tax benefits. I don't get any help from my ex though. If you are getting child support they take that into account and it will decrease. I would try and get as much as you can from him or look at going back to some type of work because I found it nearly impossible to live on the single parent pension...

It's best to talk to them directly. You have to also add on FTB's and rent assistance. Also talk to CSA about how much Child support your likely to get.
You will be able to survive, you just have to make smart decisions about where you live etc.
I always worked out my budget minus Child support as even the best dad's seem to miss payments. Then if child support comes in it's bonus money :)

Wow I can't believe how much money stay at home mums get. Here I am going to work every day working my butt off and getting paid less then what these mums staying home all day do. No wonder there are less working mums these days. How ridiculous!
