My 8 1/2 year old son flatly refuses to eat, unless it's pasta sandwiches or take away. He hate touching his food, unless it's wrapped in bread. He refuses to try anything new. At first we thought it was his throat, we had it checked and he had huge tonsils so we had them removed. But now it's gone from not eating much to barely eating at all, he is tiny and I worry that if he got sick we would lose him because he has no reserves. He has also started lying, when he doesn't eat he is to sit at the table while I do the dishes and tidy up, and he decided while I had left the room to throw out the dinner I had cooked. And I caught him. I'm so worried. What can I do to get him to eat??

I'd be taking him to a paediatrician and a psychologist who specialises in eating problems in children.
My daughter went through a very long stage of not eating when she was three. She became so tiny she weighed as much as a 10 month old baby. I was regularly visiting her paediatrician just to keep an eye on her and saw a nutritionist so that I could provide her with healthy, fattening stuff for when she did eat. They gave great advice like putting extra olive oil on pasta, to help maintain weight. It was a very stressful time as a parent however none of the doctors were overly concerned, but just kept her monitored. After going thorough this I'd recommend you see your doctor for advice. Good luck
