Night terrors?

Night terrors?

Since New Year's Eve my just 2 yr old daughter has started to wake up between 11:30pm and 1am each night. She's never been a good sleeper but since August was sleeping through. The last 4 nights consecutively she has let out a long blood curdling scream and is walking around house. I run down in panic each time and cuddle her and give her a milk and she settles easily.
Her appearance is terrified but dazed if that makes sense.
I've been googling night mate or night terror. It doesn't quite fit night terrors as she's not "flailing and inconsolable" but it is similar to my nephews night terrors that he once had.
I've tried talking to her about it, but she's too young to have the vocabulary or understanding of a dream to discuss it.
Has anyone got any insight into this, what I could do or how to help her/stop it.
Would going to paed/GP be a waste of time?
Tonight I'm going to rouse her just before 12am as some googled readings suggest but looking for some help.
TIA!

Night terrors are very common.. I used to go in before I went to bed and give my son a cuddle (stir him a little not wake him completely though) put his favourite teddy beside him tuck him in and found it would help. He would still wake sometimes from the night terror but usually he slept through then.

I'm going to try that tonight. I usually give her a kiss, tuck her in and tell her I love her. She moves a little but I will rouse her more and hopefully a better night tonight! I'm thinking of sleeping in there tonight to see how it starts. Ie perhaps in her sleepy state it's taken a long time to open bedroom door and that's been enough to scare her in the dark.
