I want to nap every day - help!

I want to nap every day - help!

I am really sick of being tired all the time. I am a single parent to a 10 year old daughter who is very easy. I work part time as a teacher and have a small sewing business from home. I try not to commit to too many extra curricular activities as I know my limits, mentally and physically. Every day is arranged around whether I can nap or not. I have been like this for years and it eats away at me because I want to be like normal people with energy! I just I eat pretty well and drink water mostly. I have taken a low dose of antidepressants since my daughter was born (I've had two tragic losses in my family in that 10 year span). Can anyone suggest a way to create more energy??

Maybe 30 minutes of exercise a few times a week? Know it sounds counter productive, but exercise definitely boosts my energy - if I miss a few dats, I'm a lethargic mess!
A friend also had energy deficiencies and was constantly napping but turned out she had diabetes. Maybe talk to a doctor if it doesn't get better ?
Good luck!

If you have been like this for years and literally REQUIRE a nap to function then I would be getting a thorough medical done. I would be wondering if you are deficient in anything, Have coeliac disease or a food intolerance, have a malabsorption issue, have chronic fatigue syndrome... honestly the list is so long of possible medical causes that its really just best if you get a thorough medical workup done.
I hope you get some answers mumma X

I was like that, was B12. But best to talk to your doctor about it and they will check a number of things.

I was like that for a very long time, and put it down to depression, turns out i had very low iron, and am now having tests to see if i have celiac disease. Get some good iron tablets now and go see your doctor.

Me too, thought it was depression and anxiety! Turns out I was low in iron, now I take the iron tabs I feel like a completely different person. And now I exercise more and feel great :-) good advice X

A trip to the doctor would be ideal....check for deficiencies or other physiological processes that may be contributing to your fatigue.
I've just completed a major project on CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), your prolonged fatigue and limited function may be defining factors of this condition.
Speak to your doctor...10 years is a long time to suffer this.
Also, mention your sleeping patterns to doctor, it may be related to that too.
Please do NOT take any vitamins and minerals unless under instruction from a qualified professional. Each body is unique and exposed to different environments, genetic differences, nutrients etc, and requires individual intervention. What works for one person, may not be suitable for another.
Vitamin & mineral intoxication is possible, if not supervised.
Good luck, fatigue is a complex area, so many conditions and deficiencies are related.

I would look into if you have a sleep disorder. If you talk to your GP, they can refer you to a sleep specialist and you'll have a night time and day time sleep test (MLST). I've recently been diagnosed with IH (Idiopathic Hypersomniance), give it a google, haha. I've had sleep issues long before my kids were born and have had pretty much every test possible to eliminate other causes. As for creating more energy, I don't have any ideas sorry as the only thing which helps me, is meds to keep me awake. Best wishes.

I'd visit the GP and get a referral to a sleep specialist. Perhaps you have a sleep disorder like IH (Idiopathic Hypersomniance) or Narcolepsy? It's worth having the night and day time tests to rule it out. I've only recently been diagnosed with IH, but have suffered with sleep issues since I was a teen (long before my children were born). I'm on meds to keep me awake. I don't have any ideas to help with energy, sorry. I'm completely exhausted after exercise, sends me straight into a nap and I eat healthy. I've had pretty much every test available to rule out other causes like deficiencies etc. Best wishes to you, nothing worse than sleeping your life away! I know this all too well. Xx

I'd get your iron, thyroid and b12 checked. I recently found out i have an overactive thyroid and low b12 levels. Just knowing made me feel better and taking a b12 tablet has made a big difference.
