WARNING!! So Important! PLEASE READ - for those with current or future Tweens and teenagers - Don't let them have the app "Kik"!!!

I would just like to warn all you mummies who have Tweens or future Tweens. Do NOT allow your kids to download the app Kik.
It is basically a chat app. My 12 yo foster daughter asked me if she could download it on the ipad. She said that it was age appropriate and that all her friends were on there. I looked at the description for it and it seemed ok. So I allowed her. I stipulated that I have her username and password and told her that I would check what was happening from time to time.
I checked that night after she had been on it most of the afternoon and I am soooo glad I did!
I found conversations between her and other men (yes men!), people who had uploaded pornographic pictures and people asking for explicit pictures from her. If this wasn't enough, there were men professing their undying love to her, fighting with each other about who loved her more and one conversation where a man said that he would kill himself if she didn't say she loved him.
I checked the settings to see if there was a way to stop random people from adding themselves to a chat group - absolutely nothing to prevent it. I blocked these men, but found that it was really easy to unblock them. There were no parental controls at all!
After discovering this I immediately deleted the app. This app is not safe for any child, be them Tweens or teenager. For your child's safety, please do not allow your child to download this app.
