I have a 21 month old daughter who has started hitting whenever she doesn't get her own way. She also squeals at the top of her lunges when she is frustrated or not getting her own way. I do time out but she doesn't really care she just sits there until I go over to tell her why she is in time out then she gives me a hug & kiss to say sorry but then she goes and does it again. I've also tried ignoring her squealing until she settles down and then I ask her what she wants but that only works sometimes.
Should I just continue with the time outs and she will learn eventually or is there another approach I could take?

She may still be a little young for the time outs. I'd continue with the ignoring and prompting her to use her words. Any approach takes time to really work.
