Having a rough time with our almost 4 year old waking Atleast 3 times a night crying and not wanting to go back to sleep!! HELP!! He has never been a fabulous sleeper, but we went through about 6 mths where we finally slept all night about 5 times a week. But recently he is worse then ever, he never has a particular reason! We have tried music, night lights, story time before bed, etc etc.... Nothing makes a difference. He seems to have VERY sensitive hearing and wakes very easily, and we are on a waiting list to get his hearing and other things behaviour wise checked out! But in the mean time my husband and I just need some sleep, it's actually coming between us! Any suggestions PLEASE x

This is going to sound bad but there are medications that can give you some relief. It should only be used for short term but to give you some respite a couple of nights a week it may be worth it! I've suffered extreme sleep deprivation and make no mistake it's a killer. Go ask your GP
Have you considered food intolerances or allergies of some description (food related or not)? My youngest daughter who's recently turned one has slept through the night about 5 times her whole life, but she averages anywhere between 3-6 wake ups a night. We know she's lactose and gluten intolerant, allergic to honey and we believe something else. We're currently waiting for allergy testing to try and determine the exact causes. My eldest who's 2 1/2 also tends to wake 1-5 times a night (we're also considering it could be allergies for her too). The worst part about it is that we tried the most hardcore medication you can give children to sleep and it didn't work! That's why we believe it's something more. Could be worth a look :)
All the best, I completely understand what sleep deprivation does!
He is sensitive to dairy, both my children are, we don't drink cow's milk products as they have an allergy to cow's milk protein, he is a major fussy eater and we have a lot of trouble with getting him to eat, oh I so can't wait for his appointment, they are doing hearing, allergy testing, and behaviour testing etc (he was deprived of oxygen at birth as he got stuck in my pelvis and he was too big and no one detected he was such a big baby, they guessed 7/8 pounds and he was 9pd 7oz and I'm tiny - he got distressed and after manipulation came out but choked on the mechonium (is that how it's spelt) so they think he might have some sort of autism maybe or damage from his delivery?!?!
