My little boy just turned 4 in October..
He is super active and very well coordinated but struggles with his speech but only on certain sounds .. He can't say "S" in a word eg snake stairs or "F" in a word eg fish fork funny ... He can pronounce the sound of the letters by themselves ok but seriously struggles putting it into a word .. Any experiences or advice would be great please

We have done speech for this as well as middle "long sounds" (s, f, sh) and adding on tails of words. Having my son improve on just s, and f has been incredible and worth the speech. I would say go and get an assessment done and see what the speech pathologist says to do.
It's quite normal not to be able to say f in words at 4 so that doesn't worry me. It would depend how many sounds he can't put into words. If it's only f and s I seriously would not bother at all. If his speech over all was unintelligible to people that don't know him then I'd go to speech
Does you little boy go to kinder or preschool? My son was able to get a referral from his teacher and I took him to a speech therapist for his 's' and 'z' sounds. She was excellent! She was able to check whether he was using his muscles in his mouth correctly and took a look at his throat.
After assessing my son's speech she believed it was just the way he'd developed his talking and it took positive correction and lots of 'ssss' and 'zzzz' sound activities to help him learn how to hold his tongue correcrly to produce the right sound.
She also suggested a visit to the doctor to get a referral to an ENT specialist to have his adenoids checked and she wrote a letter for the doctor explaining why she feels there is a need for a referral. She was excellent and definitely helped. I would strongly suggest it.
