Victim Assist QLD for Counselling *Warning Trigger*

Hi Ladies,
**Suicide / CSA : Trigger Warning**
In need of some support around Victim Assist.
So, my young teenage daughter within the last week was admitted to hospital emergency after an intentional overdose.
She is thankfully physically okay.
We of course have had some intensive follow-ups since and will have ongoing intensive mental health support to come.
Backtrack to when she was under primary school age -
My daughter disclosed child sexual abuse at a very young age by someone close to her. (Just for some background context).
Back to supports -
Many services long term won't see high risk.
I have intervention in motion but it's only until they can reduce her risk. So time unknown. I am in the meantime planning next steps for when we get to a transition point.
Which is where I am thinking of taking her private and trying to get some more specialist care so I can ensure consistency moving forwards with appointments.
We need someone with time and not just bulkbilled as generally that involves waits between and inconsistency.
I have been advised by advocates to apply for Victims Assist to go private due to her needs - my question more so falls into the counselling funding. Has anyone managed to have this fast tracked, I am a single mum. How quickly can an urgent application go through vs a standard time frame? Secondly, how does the counselling funding generally work?
Hoping some maybe able to suppport based on experience if they have gone through this process.
I will try call tomorrow again the phone number, I couldn't get through on their phone line today as they close it off when busy and shut the line down.
Thank you! One exhausted and very worried mum

I am not certain about the timeline for approval but just want to reach out to say how sorry I am that you are all going through this <3

When they do fund your sessions with a private Psychologist, book the sessions way in advance (approx 6) so there are not long gaps between sessions. They are all stretched so it helps. When you get towards the last two, book more.

I switched my teen to online sessions because they bulk billed and the funding was going to run out. I get that it's so very distressing for us too, so please make sure you take some time to breathe and look after yourself too <3
