Anxiety and depression

Anxiety and depression

Its taken me years to do this.
I went to the GP to get help.
I am not ok. And I can see how I am getting worse. I have been in denial.
I have anxiety and depression. I feel dumb even saying that.
Im a mum, wife and sister. Early 40's.
I had a great chat with my doctor.
To go along side my other treatments.
She has given me the name of 3 different medication that could help and told me to look into each.
Agomelatin
Lexapro
Zoloft

Again I feel dumb saying this. I struggle with weight gain and that was part of the reason for not getting help earlier. I dont want to put on weight (working hard but still overweight right now)

Any advice. Opinions. Thoughts. Experiences on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Please if you cant say anything without judgement please dont comment.

I have been on lexapro. It wasn't the right fit for me. I ended up with vaginal dryness, no sex drive, and my anxiety went through the roof.
I'll never touch zolof.

I'm on prestique. For me it's been the best part of my combo of medications

Finding the right fit will take time. Other health issues also need to come into account. You need to ask yourself, is risking your mental health worth losing your mind out fear of weight gain.

It took me 10yrs to find the right combo for me. I have bipolar, border line, crippling anxiety and depression.

Im on zoloft & have been for about 15 years. No weight gain for me. Its been a life saver, literally. I tried Lexapro but that didn't have the desired effects. I've got bipolar & am also on saphris & Tegretol for mood stabiliser they are both weight neutral. Good luck with your health. Its a hard road but finding what work is a game changer. Also as others have said, could it be perimenopause. That can cause all this.

Perimenopause can cause these symptoms and doctors are not always up to speed or receptive when it comes to peri. I ended up with a naturopath and they helped me more but that is just my personal experience. Some women prefer to stick with their doctors and that is perfectly okay. Just putting it out there as it may not have been mentioned by your GP.
