Lost mum wondering why we aren’t expecting better for our children

Genuine question- not so much a judgment- but as parents is the new age for drinking , vaping and smoking 15 … are we not setting boundaries and are all rules out the window… it literally feels like in my own group .. I’m the only one struggling with parenting and going against the grain - of making them wait to experience things and not letting them experience everything before they’re even out of school… What am I missing why are we providing our children ( 15) with drugs and alcohol and their friends ? The research is there , the studies are there … help me understand. Why is this the norm?

It literally feels the world has done a 360.. s&$, Photography, drugs, alcohol, smoking , vaping - like is anyone else wondering what’s going wrong when our schools are having machete attacks ? Are we as parents doing the best we can!

Teenagers are getting better as a whole, not as much binge drinking, drugs, smoking cigarettes as previous generations. The only thing up is vaping and that's because it just wasn't around before. Obviously its all still happening but definitely not as much these days.

Well I'm a gen X kid. We did it all, because we had no guidance or supervision. We were just sneakier about it!

Now, teens have more access. Phones, escooters & jobs. Vaping is easy. I had a friend visit & it took her two mins to locate illegal vapes.

We can only try to teach our kids consequences and be there to catch them. I don't know any parents supplying their kids with drugs or alcohol.

Bullying and MH are big issues. Bullies face no consequences and don't stop at the gate, thanks to technology. My child needs help with other issues and every option we've been referred to has let us down. We're now paying $200+ a session to help them. Not everyone can afford that, and we've had to sacrifice to do it.
