As of yesterday I have been struck down with an awful cold sore on my lip (left side), I generally get them every 2 years which besides being an embarrassment for a few days, is bearable. The problem is I cannot think of anything that would generally cause this and after "researching" (googling), realized that I have had this unsightly weird tiny looking pimple on my left upper cheek bone which I have been trying to get rid of..and it does resemble a miniature looking cold sore. As of today though my left eye on the same side has been feeling rather irritable and oddly I keep getting this weird, white, stringy mucus in my mouth. I wouldn't be concerned generally but I am in my third trimester of pregnancy and have never had all these other things happen while having a cold sore. Will be seeing the pharmacist today.

Id see a DR - not a pharmacist
Local DR is not entirely competent while the local Pharmacist has many health and medical degrees.. :)
A pharmacist cannot order tests - a Dr Can
Shingles?
All good and sorted. Definitely just a cold sore and the rest is from being run down due to pregnancy.
Just letting you know that there are some preservatives, colours, additives in foods that can trigger a cold sore. Also chocolate, nuts and caffeine can also flood the body with arginine.. Which can trigger a cold sore. Recommend a book call the chemical maze. Btw.. I work in pharmacy.. :-)
