Buying 1st home

Hi I have been with my husband 20yrs and have 2 children . The children are only young in primary school. We have a very happy marriage and family life. The only thing missing is we can't save a deposit for a house . My parents won't go guarantor . Has anyone got any tips on how we can finally complete our life and get a home? We are nearly 40

It depends where you live. Some states like SA it's much easier as house prices are reasonable. Some parts of NSW is say forget it, it's not worth the stress!
Even if they went guarantor you'd still need some kind of deposit. All guarantor changes is if you need mortgagee insurance. Basically the only way to save is like any savings, budget, budget, budget and don't spend any money on things that are not essential.

Keep a look out because some times you can come across a rent to buy. You rent the house for a year or two and this money is used as the deposit, you then need to obtain finance for the remainder. This is what we did to get into our first home. Look online for them and make sure everything is done legally and READ the contract with a solicitor before signing.
