TW: DV - What helped you realise?

Wondering what triggered others to realise they were in a DV relationship? What helped you to come out of denial of it all?

My daughter did.
She was the one who saw everything so I couldn't lie or make up excuses like I did for everyone else, and she repeatedly kept telling me I deserved better and what he was doing was not ok (it's her own dad btw)
It wasn't until someone I deeply loved and trusted told me it wasn't right that I started to listen.
Then she got a boyfriend who was just awful and that i hated and i realised he was just like her dad and that if i didnt do something she would end up in the same position as me.
She also holds me accountable so I can't go back to him.

DV affects kids so much, really sad when they are forced to teach us such important lessons that we should be teaching them. I was in a toxic relationship, after I had a child, I left, it wasn't just about me anymore. I guess having kids was my "trigger'.
